  • First, diagnose the canvas

The mask performs best when the unwanted tone is yellow. It is not the ideal correction tool for strong orange, copper, or red reflects. Therefore, before applying, identify four things:

  1. Level: Is the hair level 7, 8, 9, 10, gray, white, or platinum?
  2. Underlying warmth: Is the warmth yellow, pale yellow, yellow-orange, orange, or copper?
  3. Porosity: Does the hair absorb quickly, feel rough, or look over-lightened?
  4. Goal: Is the client looking for soft beige-cool, icy blonde, silver refinement, or simple yellow control?
  • Timing guide by level

Level 7 — Medium Blonde

  • Undertone: Yellow-orange to orange.
  • Timing: Not ideal as the main toning tool; test for 5–10 minutes only.
  • Expected Result: May slightly soften warmth, but it will not create an icy blonde result. Strong orange warmth usually requires a blue or blue-violet toner instead.

Level 8 — Light Blonde

  • Undertone: Orange-yellow to yellow.
  • Timing: 7–12 minutes.
  • Expected Result: Helps soften yellow warmth and may create a cooler beige-blonde effect.

Level 9 — Very Light Blonde

  • Undertone: Yellow.
  • Timing: 5–8 minutes.
  • Expected Result: Helps create a cleaner, cooler blonde with good brass control.

Level 10 — Lightest Blonde

  • Undertone: Pale yellow.
  • Timing: 2–5 minutes.
  • Expected Result: Helps achieve an icy, pearl, or soft platinum effect; monitor closely to avoid over-depositing violet pigment.

White / Platinum / Silver Hair

  • Undertone: Pale yellow staining, dullness, or oxidation.
  • Timing: 1–3 minutes.
  • Expected Result: Helps brighten and cool the appearance of silver, white, or platinum hair; high risk of lavender cast if left too long.

Gray / Natural Silver Hair

  • Undertone: Yellowing from oxidation, minerals, pollution, or styling residue.
  • Timing: 2–5 minutes.
  • Expected Result: Helps create a cleaner silver-gray appearance and reduce yellow cast.

Highly Porous Blonde Ends

  • Undertone: Uneven pale yellow or over-lightened areas.
  • Timing: 30 seconds–3 minutes.
  • Expected Result: Very quick pigment deposit; monitor constantly to avoid violet grabbing, smoky patches, or uneven toning.
  • True Violet Defense: Many purple masks rely on generic “purple-looking” pigment blends that may lean too blue, too gray, or too red-violet, which can leave blondes looking smoky, dull, uneven, or slightly stained instead of clean and cool. Mevys Cool Violet Mask is built around a true violet cosmetic pigment system, designed to visually counteract unwanted yellow tones in blonde, highlighted, silver, gray, and lightened hair. This gives stylists a more purposeful toning tool: not just a purple-colored mask, but a violet-defense mask created to help maintain a cleaner, cooler blonde result between salon services.

  • Ice Blonde Glow: Refreshes lightened hair with a cooler, brighter appearance, helping blondes look more polished and luminous. By reducing the look of warm yellow reflects, the hair can appear softer, icier, and more refined.

  • Lightening Maintenance Mask: Created for hair that has been lightened, highlighted, balayaged, or platinum-toned, this mask helps maintain the cosmetic result of professional blonding services. It combines toning support with conditioning care to keep lightened lengths feeling smoother and more manageable.

  • Color-Safe pH Balance: Formulated with a color-care friendly acidic pH, it supports the needs of chemically treated hair after color or lightening services. This helps promote a smoother-feeling cuticle, improved shine, and a more polished post-color finish.

Porosity is usually the result of chemical services, heat styling, UV exposure, or mechanical wear that lift or damage the cuticle. Our Cool Violet Shampoo doesn’t change what porous hair is — it changes how porous hair behaves.

COOL VIOLET HAIR SHAMPOO - FAQ

The Mevys Cool Violet Mask is best described as a violet pigment conditioning mask. Its main function is to help visually neutralize unwanted yellow tones in blonde, highlighted, gray, silver, platinum, or lightened hair, while enhancing softness, slip, shine, detangling, and a smoother feel on chemically treated hair. It does this through violet pigment deposition, not through oxidation, bleaching, or permanent color chemistry, while fusing conditioning agents,, humectants, proteins, amino acids, botanical extracts, and lipids

Color Theory In Motion

  • From a color theory perspective, violet sits opposite yellow on the color wheel. When violet pigment is deposited onto a yellow-toned blonde fiber, it helps visually cancel or soften that yellow reflection. This can make the hair appear cooler, cleaner, icier, pearl-like, beige-cool, or more refined depending on the starting level of lift.

Due to the pigments, the mask works best on blonde, gray, silver, white, highlighted, or lightened hair because these hair colors have enough lightness for violet pigment to be visible. Pigment deposition depends heavily on the underlying shades. If the hair is too dark, the violet pigment may still deposit lightly, but the eye will not perceive much tonal change because the natural or artificial pigment load is too deep.

The other side of the spectrum

  1. For copper, orange, or red hair, the result is different. Violet is not the most direct counter-color for orange. Blue is the strongest visual neutralizer for orange, while green is used to counteract red. A violet mask may slightly mute warmth, but it will not properly correct strong copper, orange, or red reflections. On intentional copper or red hair, the mask could make the tone look dull, smoky, muted, or “muddy,” because it is depositing a cool violet reflection over a warm target shade.
  2. In blonding, when melanin is lightened, the underlying warmth becomes exposed. Levels 8–10 commonly reveal yellow, pale yellow, or yellow-white backgrounds. Violet pigment is ideal for that yellow range because violet visually neutralizes yellow.

Mevys Cool Violet Mask is formulated with CI 60725 / Solvent Violet 13 / Violet 2. which confirms that the product contains a violet cosmetic colorant, thus, a functional violet pigment mask is born, not merely a cream base that looks purple for marketing purposes. This matters because some purple-looking products rely on pigment blends that may lean blue, gray, red-violet, or unstable depending on the base. When the pigment balance is not aligned with yellow neutralization, the result can be uneven: smoky, dull, lavender-stained, grayish, or insufficiently corrective.

  • Note: The pigment performance still depends on several variables: the hair’s level, porosity, previous color history, product quantity, processing time, and how evenly the mask is applied.

“Acid-based” can sound alarming, but in hair care it does not automatically mean hazardous. Hair conditioning agents such as our mask often use mildly acidic pH ranges because the hair fiber and scalp naturally perform better with formulas that are not overly alkaline. When it comes to Chemically treated, bleached, or color-treated hair, these often have damaged cuticles, higher porosity, and a rougher surface feel as a result of the alkaline-natured services they were subject to. A mildly acidic product can help the hair feel smoother, more polished, and less rough, while contrasting the effects of colored services.

Our Mevys Mask pH range is scientifically proven for post-color care products because it supports a smoother cuticle feel and helps reduce the harsh swelling associated with bleaching or coloring systems.

Porous areas may absorb more pigment and as a result, look darker, violet, gray, or uneven if the hair is extremely porous, very pale, white, platinum, or overprocessed. This is not unique to Mevys; it is a known behavior of violet pigment masks.

Porous hair has a compromised cuticle and a more open, uneven surface. When the cuticle is damaged from bleaching, heat, alkaline color, or mechanical stress, the fiber absorbs and holds pigment more aggressively. Instead of depositing evenly, the violet pigment can “grab” onto the most damaged sections first. This can lead to patchy violet, gray, smoky, or lavender areas.

  • Hair type Recommendation

If your hair has the following characteristics:

  1. The hair is level 10 or nearly white.
  2. The hair is highly porous from repeated bleaching.
  3. The ends are more damaged than the root area.
  4. The hair is dry or unevenly saturated during application.

stylists are encouraged to perform a strand test and in par, reduce processing time, dilute with a white mask if necessary, and apply strategically to the warmest areas first upon evaluation.

The Cool Violet Mask should not replace salon toning. Salon toning gives the stylist more control over level, reflect, background warmth, porosity, developer strength, and target shade. A violet mask is a maintenance product. It helps extend the appearance of a cooler result, but it cannot fix uneven lift, banding, orange warmth, incorrect formulation, or severe color imbalance.

  • Everyday vs strategic use: It is a maintenance mask, not a salon toner replacement. Use only when yellow tones become visible, not automatically every wash.It should be used strategically, not daily or with every wash, especially on very light or porous hair.

VioletCare Tone + Conditioning System

A dual-action blonde maintenance system that helps neutralize unwanted yellow tones while conditioning the hair fiber for softness, shine, and a smoother-looking finish. Engineered on par with Mevys Healthy Hair Optimization standards, this Cool Violet Mask brings together two essential needs of lightened hair: tonal control and fiber care. Its violet pigment technology helps soften the appearance of yellow brassiness in blonde, highlighted, silver, gray, and bleached hair, while its conditioning architecture supports smoother texture, easier detangling, and a more polished feel after chemical services. Instead of treating toning and conditioning as separate steps, this system works as a refined maintenance ritual—helping refresh cool blonde dimension while leaving the hair feeling softer, brighter, and visibly cared for between salon appointments.
