Knowing your hair need's is a must when it comes to selecting and utilizing new beauty products. All hair types may benefit from the conditioner, but not all hair types have the same needs. To avoid saturation, use the following guide (do not apply on scalp, unless you have a low dry scalp):
Short Hair: Use a pea-sized amount. Emulsify in the hands first. Apply mainly to mid-lengths and ends. Avoid the scalp unless hair is chemically damaged. Leave on for 3–5 minutes.
- Why: Short hair has less surface area and less cumulative damage, so excessive product may coat the fiber unnecessarily. A small amount provides conditioning without flattening the hair’s natural volume or movement.
Fine Hair: Use a small amount (dime-sized). Apply strictly to mid-lengths and ends. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb to distribute evenly. Leave for 3–4 minutes.
- Why: Fine hair fibers have smaller diameters and lower structural mass, making them more prone to being weighed down by conditioning lipids and silicones. Controlled application maintains hydration and repair while preserving natural body and lift.
Medium Hair: Use a quarter-sized amount. Distribute evenly from mid-lengths to ends. Leave on for 5 minutes before rinsing.
- Why: Medium-density hair benefits from the mask’s balanced system of proteins, humectants, and lipids, which helps restore elasticity and improve surface smoothness without excessive heaviness.
Normal Hair: Apply moderate amount from mid-lengths to ends. Comb through to ensure even distribution. Leave for 5–7 minutes.
- Why: Normal hair typically requires maintenance conditioning rather than intensive reconstruction, so even distribution ensures the fiber receives balanced hydration and strengthening without overloading the structure.
Long Hair/Extra Long Hair: Divide hair into two or four sections. Apply mask from mid-lengths downward, concentrating heavily on the ends. Leave for 7–10 minutes.
- Why: Long hair experiences greater cumulative damage due to friction, environmental exposure, and repeated styling. The ends are typically more porous and require additional lipid and protein support to restore softness and prevent breakage.
Abundant (thick) Hair: Work in sections to ensure even saturation. Apply generously from mid-lengths to ends. Detangle with a wide-tooth comb. Leave for 8–10 minutes.
- Why: Thick hair has higher fiber density and larger cross-sectional area, meaning more product is needed to adequately coat and condition each strand. Sectioning ensures uniform penetration and optimal conditioning.
Who Should apply the intense repair mask occasionally?
The Intense Repair Mask is rich in conditioning agents, proteins, and smoothing silicones, so the following hair types should apply it carefully:
- Very Fine, Low-Density Hair
- Low Porosity Hair
- Hair That Is Completely Virgin and Healthy
- Multi-Protein Repair System: A targeted blend of hydrolyzed keratin, soy protein, and silk amino acids helps reinforce weakened hair fibers and smooth the cuticle surface. This multi-protein complex temporarily fortifies compromised areas of the hair shaft, improving resilience, softness, and overall structural integrity after daily stress or chemical processing.
- Intensive Moisture Replenisher: Glycerin and panthenol work together to help attract and retain moisture within the hair fiber, supporting improved elasticity and flexibility. This hydration-focused system restores softness and helps reduce dryness, leaving hair smoother, more supple, and easier to manage.
- Anti-Breakage Support: Professional conditioning agents help reduce friction between hair strands, improving combability and minimizing mechanical stress during brushing and styling. By enhancing fiber lubrication and flexibility, the formula helps protect against breakage and promotes healthier-looking hair over time.
- Chemical-Recovery Treatment: The acid-balanced formula helps compact the cuticle layer and rebalance the hair fiber after chemical services such as bleaching, coloring, or highlighting. Conditioning lipids and strengthening proteins help restore manageability, shine, and surface smoothness to sensitized hair.
